Amsterdam Explores the Hidden and Unfamiliar

Amsterdam explores the hidden and unfamiliar Amsterdam's Photography Museum will be delving into a world of unseen sights and experiences this year.

Until April 6th, art lovers staying in cheap hotels in Amsterdam will be able to explore An American Index of the Hidden and Unfamiliar, a showcase of the work of Taryn Simon.

In March 2007, Simon was one of two winners of the annual KLM Paul Huf award, which brought the reward of an exhibition at the Amsterdam Photography Museum.

For this show, the photographer compiled a collection of images exploring the themes and issues that lie hidden within the borders of the United States.

Simon charts a range of fields and areas through her photographs, such as science, government, medicine, entertainment, nature and religion.

The subjects of her shots are therefore diverse and varied, ranging from a black bear in hibernation to radioactive capsules at a nuclear waste storage facility.

Until March 5th this year, the Amsterdam Photography Museum will present an exhibition of the work of Weegee, who is considered one of the most important photojournalists of the 20th century.
