People staying in cheap hotels in Amsterdam will be able to discover more about the origins and history of books at an exhibition this year.
The show, called Lectori Salutem, will be held at the city's Allard Pierson Museum until September 7th.
A number of key moments in history are identified and illustrated in the exhibition, which puts books as we know and use them today in a fascinating historical context.
Visitors will be able to browse a number of interesting exhibits, including manuscripts and original objects from Dutch collections, photographs and texts that show how works by classical authors have stood the test of time.
The display pieces will also look at interesting topics such as what could be found in ancient libraries and the role that historical texts have to play in modern films and computer games.
Lectori Salutem is part of Amsterdam's year as world book capital in 2008.
