Amsterdam to Explore Fantastic Film

Amsterdam will once again host its annual festival this year celebrating the world of thriller, cult, horror and science-fiction movies.

Since it launched in 1984, the Fantastic Film Festival has developed into a cult institution among lovers of unusual and alternative movies.

This year, people staying in cheap hotels in Amsterdam can find screenings featured in the festival at locations all over the city, including the Melkweg cinema, between April 9th and 20th.

A number of accolades are handed out for the event, including the Silver Scream audience award, which in the past has gone to directors such as David Cronenberg and Robert Rodriguez.

Lifetime achievement awards have also been given to the likes of Terry Gilliam, Roger Corman, Ray Harryhausen and Peter Jackson.

People who like their art to have a more historical feel can find an exhibition of the work of John Everett Millais at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam between February 15th and May 15th.
