Back to Roots in Amsterdam
This month sees the return of the popular Amsterdam Roots Festival, showcasing a variety of music from around the world.
Taking place between June 16th and 23rd across various venues throughout the city, the event has previously seen world stars such as Ravi Shankar and Gilberto Gil perform live in front of crowds of fans who might be staying in cheap hotels in Amsterdam.
For 2007, the festival features four different programmes of music: Acoustic Africa, Fuego Latino, Balkan Beats and Tango Nuevo.
Salsa group Africando, funk artist Manu Dibango and gypsy dance outfit Besh o droM are among the many performers bringing their unique take on traditional musical genres to the stages of Amsterdam.
A host of club nights and parties will also be taking place during the event to further entertain the 60,000 people who flock to the city every year for this massive festival.
