Blooming Big Balloon Bash in Breda
Those who love the sight of hot air balloons floating gracefully and peacefully through the air could be in their element in the Dutch town of Breda in August, when the Breda Balloon Fiesta reaches for the sky.
Held for the 22nd time from August 2nd to 4th, the event centres on a spectacular array of balloons of various shapes and sizes, including, organisers have announced, a special guest shaped like a giant turtle floating in from Belgium to join the other 34 gentle giants drifting through the skies above the town.
A particular highlight is the night time display of balloons lit up like lanterns, while there will also be displays of parachutists, mini-balloon launches and nocturnal kite-flying.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Breda can also enjoy a balloon flight themselves, with festival organisers offering this for €150 (£102).
Entry to the festival site is free.
