Discover Horst Janssen in Amsterdam

Discover Horst Janssen in Amsterdam The city of Amsterdam will this summer host an exploration of the work of Horst Janssen, one of the greatest printmakers of the 20th century.

People staying in cheap hotels in Amsterdam can discover the German graphic artist's work at the Rembrandthuis museum, which will host the Janssen exhibition until August 24th.

Janssen created portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, still-lifes and erotic scenes, all of which were full of expressive lines, colours and compositions that distort and dramatise their subjects.

The exhibition, which is the first in the Netherlands to be devoted to the artist's prints, also looks at his admiration for Rembrandt and the inspiration that he took from the great master.

Amsterdam's Rembrandthuis museum is located in the house that used to belong to Rembrandt himself.

Until June 29th the museum will be exhibiting a painting of a man laughing, alongside a number of related works and documentation, that was only recently confirmed to be the work of Rembrandt.
