Horseplay in Amsterdam

Horseplay in Amsterdam Riders and their teams are set to descend on Amsterdam shortly as the city gears up to host its annual horse show.

The Amsterdam RAI jumping programme features a series of events across four days of competition and there will also be dressage and driving contests taking place at the same time, according to What's On When.

Entitled Jumping Amsterdam, the event usually attracts a wealth of leading competitors from countries including the UK, so tourists staying in any of the city's cheap hotels could take a trip to the festival and support the Brits.

The event's organiser said of the driving event: "After the world cup driving at Jumping Amsterdam was last put on in 2001, the capital's concourse will again be part of the world cup circuit for four-in-hand drivers this season."

An "exciting competition" is predicted this year as the event provides the last opportunity for drivers to collect points in order to qualify for the finals which are being staged in Sweden the following month.

Taking place from January 25th to the 28th 2007, the annual competition's grand prix event was won last year by Great Britain's leading showjumper Michael Whitaker.
