Queen in Concert
Anyone wanting to see evidence that it's not just patriotic Brits who love their queen can do so in style by heading for The Hague on April 29th.
The date sees the Haagse Koninginnach (Queen's night) take place, a huge music festival in honour of Queen Beatrix, where bands play on five different stages round the city.
As a bit of a change from the normal bands and marching guards, this is definitely one for rock and pop fans, who can both enjoy music and plenty of food and drink, with numerous Dutch beers to be enjoyed.
The following day, April 30th, sees the whole country celebrating Queen's Day, the birthday of the previous monarch, Queen Juliana, with plenty more festivities and all things orange to the fore.
In addition to the music, the city has a wide range of attractions for visitors.
Those who need something a little calmer to do after all the partying can visit a range of museums, including the Omniversum (a 360 degree IMAX-cinema), the model city of Madurodam and the Mauritshuis, home to many works by famous Dutch artists.
There is plenty of accommodation in The Hague, including cheap hotels.
