Tennis fans may have a very good reason to pay a visit to Europe's biggest port between February the 19th and the 25th as some of the top male players in the world compete in the 34th ABN Ambro Tournament.

According to organisers, the tournament has already lined up the likes of Lleyton Hewitt, Ivan Ljubicic, Nikolay Davydenko, Mario Ancic and Marcos Baghdatis.

Ticket prices vary between €16 (£11) and €40 (£27), the most expensive being for the final.

While fans staying in cheap hotels in the city will get to enjoy some top-class sporting action, visitors to Rotterdam will be pleasantly surprised by the other attractions available locally.

These include the interesting post-war architecture such as Piet Blom's cube houses, some of the many innovative buildings featured in the Year of Architecture theme running throughout 2007.

Rotterdam also offers harbour tours, the Diergaarde Blijdorp zoo with its huge oceanarium, plus panoramic views from the 607 ft high Euromast tower.
