A Day of Blues, Brews and Barbecues

A day of blues, brews and barbecues In January and February every year New Zealand hosts one of the most popular and snappily named events on its summer calendar - the Blues, Brews and Barbecues festival.

This occasion celebrates some of the things that are enjoyed most by New Zealanders in the summertime - live music, a drop of ale and some top-notch open-air cuisine.

The festival is held at Mount Maunganui and Hastings in January before coming to Blenheim on February 2nd.

New Zealand has a burgeoning industry producing a variety of ales and beers and this festival sees a number of brewers of different sizes presenting their creations to a willing audience.

The food is served up by leading chefs from each region and displays a number of different influences, from Indian to Middle Eastern, while retaining the flavour of the 'barbies' often associated with the land down under.

Visitors to the Blues, Brews and Barbecues festival enjoy their food and drink to a soundtrack of easy listening music with a distinct blues influence.

Travellers staying in cheap hotels in New Zealand can find the February event at the A&P Park in Blenheim, which is located in the far north of the south island.
