Flowery Fun in New Zealand

Flowery fun in New Zealand Green-fingered travellers will be in their element if they book a cheap hotel in New Zealand in November as the Ellerslie Flower Festival comes into season.

This fabulous festival of all things floral is thought to be the biggest flower exhibition in the southern hemisphere.

It was established by the Rotary Club of Auckland in 1994 and found its roots at the Auckland Botanic Gardens in Manukau in 1998.

One of the highlights of the event is the third in a trilogy of gardens by Sarah Eberle.

Displays will also be held by last year's bronze medal winners and youngest ever exhibitors, Matt McIsaac and Matt Ransom, while Norma Manuel will also put together a 64 square metre display.

Inspired by the Chelsea Flower Show, Ellerslie is based on 5.5 hectares of greenland and attracts around 70,000 visitors over its five days.
