Get to Known Film in New Zealand
The New Zealand International Film Festivals circuit comes to Whangarei, in the far north of the island, in November.
From November 15th to 28th people staying in cheap hotels in New Zealand can enjoy all that this leg of the travelling event has to offer, with hundreds of features and shorts being screened.
This entirely non-profit event is motivated by cultural interests and the appetite that exists in New Zealand to learn more about the world of film.
Unlike many other festivals across the world, this celebration of the medium strives to balance arty, serious films with productions for more mainstream audiences.
One of the movies on show this year is Half Nelson, a drama starring Ryan Gosling as a troubled teacher battling drug addiction.
British film Control will also be shown to the Whangarei audience, telling the story of Ian Curtis, the lead singer of 1970s band Joy Division, who committed suicide at just 23.
