Queen of the Rings

Queen of the Rings Anyone looking for a film festival worth travelling to the ends of the Earth for may consider Queenstown in New Zealand to be just the place.

The festival runs from October 26th to November 8th, with films from all around the world as well as supporting film makers from New Zealand.

New Zealand's film festivals have been running since the 1970s, gradually spreading out from the major cities to country areas and small towns.

Queenstown is of course a major destination for film makers and holidaymakers in its own right.

The spectacular scenery was used by New Zealander Peter Jackson in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, while the town has become famous for it's wide array of outdoor adventures.

Mountaineering, glacier trips, whitewater rafting and bungee jumping are among the exciting and often terrifying activities on offer.

Queenstown also has plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.
