A Very Nobel Thing
For those who want a trip that is really in tune with the big events in the world, Oslo on December 10th could be just the place to be, as this is the date of the presentation of the Nobel Peace Prize.
The event takes place at the city hall at 13.00 local time, when the winner, who will be announced this week (October 13th), will be presented with his award before making a speech.
While the event in the hall is by accreditation only, there will be a torch-lit procession and concert to follow in honour of the Laureate, which according to visit Oslo will run from Youngstorget at 18.00 local time, finishing an hour later at the Grand Hotel.
The concert is scheduled for 20.00 the following night at the Spektrum, with tickets costing between 450 and 850 Krona (£36 - £69).
Apart from the peace prize, Oslo has many attractions for visitors.
Attractions in the city include the Munch Museum, where the famous Scream painting is back on display, the Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Royal Palace.
The city can also be base for exploring the spectacular Norwegian coastline, with many ships taking visitors on trips to the fjords.
