Christmas Weather

Christmas weather When the phrase El Nino is used, most people think it's something to do with the weather, but in Norway on November 28th it's a major opera in Oslo marking the beginning of the advent season.

The event is a production by the Den Norsk company of John Adam's opera commemorating the nativity.

Adapted from a combination of biblical texts, poetry and medieval texts, the show features the Norwegian National Opera's Childrens Choir.

While the show may put people in a Christmas mood, Oslo itself will offer plenty more for visitors as the festive season approaches.

Apart from all the decorations and numerous events, the city has what claims to be the only permanent Christmas-themed shop in Scandinavia; Tregardens Christmas House.

Visitors to Oslo can enjoy all the sights and sounds of a modern capital city, which has plenty of accommodation including cheap hotels.

Attractions in the city include the Munch Museum, where the famous Scream painting is back on display, the Vigeland Sculpture Park and the Royal Palace.
