Get Jazzy in the Cold

Get jazzy in the cold Norway in winter may be freezing, but it will certainly only be cool in Longyearbyen where the Polarjazz festival takes place next January.

Running from January 30th to February 3rd 2008, the annual jazz festival in the arctic night at the northern point of Norway is a must for all jazz lovers, as well as anyone thinking of visiting the snow-covered Scandinavian country this winter.

Located on the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard, just a few hundred miles south of the North Pole, the darkness of the northern country creates an eerie and stunning backdrop to the jazz music produced by artists from all over the world.

There is limited accommodation, so those seeking hotels in Norway are urged to book early, and visitors are also urged to consider their transport – roads on the tiny islands are non-existent and snowmobiles are the main method of getting around.

So, for a stunning scene featuring the blue polar light in the northern night sky and the cool jazz tunes from the performers, head to Svalbard this winter.
