Munch to Cause a Scream in Oslo

Munch to cause a scream in Oslo Fans of the iconic artwork of Edvard much may wish to check out the latest showing of his museum in Oslo.

The current showing is set to run until August 31st 2006, with opening hours between 10:00 and 18:00 local time.

Upon Munch's death in 1944, officials discovered that he had unconditionally left all of his art work to the city of Oslo, where the Munch museum was subsequently opened in 1963.

The purpose built facility houses the artist's collection of around 1,100 paintings, 4,500 drawings and 18,000 prints, with major works always on display.

Munch's most famous and arguably best work, the scream, features in the Munch museum, with one of the two painted versions on display.

The other version of the artwork, which experts believe to be the first as it is signed and dated at 1893, can be found in the national gallery in Oslo.
