Norwegian Blues
Fans of the blues will be able to slip on their shades and join their brothers in the small Norwegian town of Notodden for its famous festival celebrating the genre in August.
Running from August 2nd to the 5th 2007, the event will see a wide range of blues stars and bands, with the published programme including the likes of Magic Slim and The Teardrops, JT Lauritsen and The Buckshot Hunters, Hard Bargain Blues Band and The Mannish Boys.
Prices for concerts vary, with the top price K380 (£32), although most cost less than this and some events are free, with workshops and talks taking place alongside the music.
Blues fans staying in cheap hotels can also enjoy several attractions around Notodden during their stay.
The area features some interesting buildings, Norway's largest medieval wooden church, plus plenty of attractive scenery, with the large lake of Heddalsvatnet lying immediately south of the town with a mountainous backdrop.
