Carillon Up Gdansk
Gdansk, one of Poland's largest ports, hosts its own Carillon festival in August.
The city is unique in having two of these 23-bell instruments, which campanologists can enjoy hearing in both locations, the Town Hall and St Catherine's Church.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels can enjoy concerts featuring carillon music from August 3rd to the 8th, including pieces composed by Bach and Rubenstein.
As well as the music, Gdansk offers a surprising array of attractions, belying its image of the grey cold war port where the Solidarity movement began.
While the port lies on the Motlawa River which flows through the city, the seafront offers fine beaches on the Baltic Coast, which is pleasantly warm in summer.
The city's maritime history led to it being part of the Hanseatic League in the middle ages, with many fine buildings dating from that time.
