Krakow 'Europe's Most Underrated City'
Krakow is the most underrated city break destination in Europe, according to a survey conducted by TripAdvisor, the online travel community.
The Polish city won seven per cent of the vote in this section of the poll, placing it ahead of Bruges (six per cent) and Edinburgh (five per cent).
In other parts of the TripAdvisor survey, Dublin was named the European destination with the friendliest locals, Venice was voted the most romantic city and Barcelona topped the 'best architecture' category.
The research also found that 93 per cent of British travellers are intending to visit a destination in Europe this year despite the strength of the euro, although 57 per cent are planning to stick to a tight budget.
TripAdvisor spokesman Luke Fredberg said: "Europe's capital cities all have their highs and lows, but no other continent offers travellers such a wealth of culture and sights within such short distances."
Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Krakow over the coming months will be able to attend events including the Selector music festival (June 5th-6th) and the city's third Theatre Night (June 12th-13th).
