Krakow Organ Festival Underway

The 19th Summer Organ Festival is now underway in Krakow.

Based at a number of venues around the popular Polish city, the festival began on July 2nd and will run until August 13th.

Musicians come from all over the world to take part in the six-week event, performing at locations such as the Basilica Pauline, the Church of the Holy Cross and St Mary's Church.

The line-up of acclaimed organists will include Gehard Gnann from Germany, Italy's Matteo Messori and Krakow's own Luke Nicholas Mateja.

Ewa Binkin, acting director of the Polish National Tourist Office, said: "The Summer Organ Festival is second to none and it's a very prestigious event. It's great for Krakow and for Poland as a whole.

"It appeals to organ aficionados from all over the world and delights thousands of tourists every year. Even if you've never really listened to organ music it's a fantastic introduction in a perfect destination."

Travellers staying in cheap hotels in Krakow will also have the chance to visit the Coke Live Music Festival between August 20th and 22nd this year, which will feature performances by the Killers, 50 Cent, the Streets and others.
