Sacrum Profanum Brings Music to Krakow

Sacrum Profanum brings music to Krakow The Polish city of Krakow will come to life with the sounds of classical music in September during the Sacrum Profanum festival.

This event celebrates classical music from the 19th and 20th centuries and this year will place a particular focus on Germany.

A number of groups and performers have already been confirmed for the festival, including London Sinfonietta and Theatre of Voices, which will give renditions of pieces by Karlheinz Stockhausen.

The series of four concerts will recognise the 80th anniversary of Stockhausen's birth.

MusikFabrik, a group from Cologne, will be another big performer at Sacrum Profanum. They will play on September 18th in a show dedicated to Wolfgang Rihm.

People staying in cheap hotels in Krakow will be able to see festival shows at venues including the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Hall and Oskar Schindler's Factory between September 14th and 21st.
