Travellers Offered Card Advice
Travellers planning stays in cheap hotels in Krakow or any other foreign destination this year have been offered some advice on how to avoid unnecessary charges and problems when using payment cards.
Abta - The Travel Association and the UK Cards Association have teamed up to publish a guide on the subject of card use abroad, which can be downloaded from the Cards Association's website.
According to official figures, there were 317 million overseas transactions on UK-issued cards last year, with British travellers spending some £27.8 billion on plastic, ten per cent more than in 2007.
The new guidance provides information on what charges may be incurred when using cards overseas and how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.
Casia Zajac, head of communications at Abta, said: "There are a range of payment options available for UK consumers going abroad and paying with plastic continues to be an increasingly popular choice.
"The advice in this guide provides holidaymakers and business travellers with useful information that can help ensure a safe and stress-free time overseas."
According to International Currency Exchange, Poland has become a more affordable destination for British travellers this year as the pound has increased in value by 19 per cent against the zloty.
