Extra Fast in Estoril
Fans of motorsport will have an extra reason to visit Portugal in September when the Portuguese Moto GP takes place at Estoril in September.
Held on 16th September, the event sees the best 500cc motorbike riders doing battle on one of the world's top circuits as they hurtle down the straight, take corners while leaning at crazy angles and occasionally suffer spectacular tumbles, before the winner performs a wheelie as the chequered flag waves and the crowd go wild.
Visitors staying in cheap hotels will be able to enjoy the atmosphere and spectacle while the top performers battle it out in this, the 14th stage out of 18 in the world championship.
By this time a clear picture of who will be champion, be it Casey Stoner, Valentino Rossi or another rider, could be emerging.
Estoril is on the Atlantic coast and also close to Lisbon, offering plenty more attractions for visitors, be they looking to laze by the sea or see the historic sights of the Portuguese capital.
