Running on and on and Lisbon
Those feeling fit as a fiddle that has just had a good workout in the gym may regard the middle of September as a great time to visit Lisbon.
On September 16th the Portuguese capital is host to its own half-marathon, giving the sporty a chance to stretch their legs on a speedy tour of this historic and beautiful city, while other visitors can watch and applaud as the athletic - and later on the not so athletic - participants pass by.
The race is one of two half-marathons in the city, run along different routes, with the race website confirming that the September edition will be run over the enormous Vasco de Gama Bridge, the largest in Europe, as it spans the waters of the Tagus.
It also passes through some of the most attractive parts of the city, offering a quick glance at buildings many may wish to see while not running.
Lisbon's finest structures include the cathedral and St George's Castle, while other attractions include the Gulbenkian museum and art gallery and the Oceanarium.
The city has plenty of attractions for visitors, including cheap hotels.
