Bucharest Serves Up a Treat

Bucharest serves up a treat Bucharest has many attractions to suit various tastes, but for tennis fans there is an extra one as the Romanian capital hosts the BCR Open in September.

Held from September 11th to 17th 2007, the event is played on the clay courts at the BNR Arenas and features many of the top male players.

Last year's tournament was won by Austrian Jurgen Melzer, with other stars in the tournament including Carlos Moya and Dmitry Tursunov.

As well as the Tennis, the city of Bucharest has a wide range of attractions.

Those with an eye for history can marvel at the immense, monolithic Place of the Parliament, once a symbol of the power of communist dictator Nicolae Ceacescu, but now home for the country's young democracy.

Bucharest's architecture contains some interesting contrasts, with many medieval buildings contrasting with architecture from the communist and post-communist eras.

The city also has good nightlife and plenty of cheap hotels.
