'Bright Future' for Singapore Tourism

'Bright future' for Singapore tourism Following a year of great success in the Singapore travel industry, the south-east Asian state's tourism board has looked forward to a bright future.

Highlights for people staying in cheap hotels in Singapore this year have included the first Formula One night race and the opening of the world's tallest observation wheel, the Singapore Flyer.

Over the coming years, the destination will play host to the opening of a Universal Studios theme park, the city's first casinos and a number of other resorts and developments.

"Other lifestyle attractions visitors can look forward to by the end of 2010 are a new international cruise terminal and Gardens by the Bay across the mouth of the Singapore River," said Divya Panickar of the Singapore Tourism Board.

"All these investments in the tourism sector will transform Singapore's landscape and help Singapore achieve its ambitious target of attracting 17 million visitors by 2015."

In September this year, the Formula One night race and the ZoukOut dance music festival helped Singapore achieve a 3.2 per cent year-on-year increase in its number of visitors from the UK.
