Celebrate Huayi in Singapore

Celebrate Huayi in Singapore The city state of Singapore will be a hive of cultural celebration in mid-February as it hosts Huayi – the Chinese festival of the arts.

This event will run from February 8th to 17th in the city's Esplanade area and is designed to honour the talents and diversity of Chinese artists from Singapore.

Theatre, music, dance, visual arts and more will keep the public entertained and there will also be a number of free programmes for the enjoyment of locals and visitors staying in hotels in Singapore.

On the opening day of the festival, a dance show called Jue Aware will be staged in the Esplanade Theatre Studio. This production, which has toured all over Europe to great acclaim, explores the complexities of family relationships by juxtaposing two dance languages.

Singapore's Concert Hall will host a violin and piano recital on February 11th before an orchestra, together with vocalists from China, perform on February 14th.

Visitors interested in something a bit more suspenseful may be interested in Like Shadows, which will show on February 16th and 17th, a play involving a girl trying to understand the causes of her mother's death and her father's disappearance.
