Get on the Fringe of things in Singapore Singapore hosts its annual Fringe Festival in January 2008, a massive cultural celebration that takes on a different theme every year.

Visitors to Singapore between January 16th and 27th will be able to explore much more than this theme alone, however, as the Fringe Festival will bring cutting edge examples of theatre, performance art, film, dance and other fields to the city.

Among the highlights of the 2008 event will be the Complaints Choir Project, a coalition of people from all over the world who have joined together to air their gripes and grumblings through choral singing.

A slightly more hopeful form of entertainment will be on offer to people staying in cheap hotels in Singapore in the form of Eclipse, which tells the story of a man making a trip to visit his father's birthplace in Hyderabad, Pakistan.

The Fringe Festival began in 2005 as a platform for meaningful and provocative art.

It is held at various locations in Singapore, including the Esplanade, Jubilee Hall and the National Museum.
