Singapore Welcomes Formula Drift
On April 27th this year the city of Singapore will welcome Formula Drift, the only officially recognised professional drifting series.
Drifting is a driving technique that – in technical terms – is achieved when a car's rear slip angle is greater than the front slip angle.
Essentially what this means is that the front wheels are pointing in the opposite direction to the turn but the car is still under the full control of the driver.
As a motorsport, drifting is gaining an ever-increasing fan-base across the world, with competitions judged on aspects including the line that drivers take, angle, speed and show factor.
People staying in cheap hotels in Singapore who catch the Formula Drift show, which will be held at the Airshow Grounds in Changi, will witness the event's first venture in Asia.
The competition is indicative of Formula Drift's ambition to become a popular global sport.
