The Parade of Dreams

Singapore will be hosting one of its most extravagant and spectacular events in February next year - the Chingay Parade of Dreams.

This traditional event has been held in Singapore since 1973 and over the past two and a half decades it has blossomed into a massively popular and ambitious celebration.

Today it is associated with an explosion of colour, music, dance and performance.

Chingay took on a cosmopolitan feel in 2000 and 2001 when it hosted a number of exotic performance groups from destinations as far-flung as Tahiti, Ghana, Brazil and Slovenia.

In 2008, people staying in cheap hotels in Singapore can find the parade, which takes place on February 15th and 16th, against the backdrop of the elegant city hall.

Among the highlights of next year's show will be a convoy of 36 Ferraris, which will usher in a fantastically decorated float to provide a prelude to the main parade.

The audience will also be entertained by the 'ocean of harmony' show, which will see the facade of city hall turned into an undulating ocean scene, featuring an 18-metre whale and a variety of other sea creatures.
