Fun in the Sun

Fun in the Sun Those enthused by the Ryder Cup result and fancying a bit of golf in sunnier climes this winter may wish to head south for the Nedbank Golf Challenge, held at the Gary Player club at Sun City, South Africa.

The event is scheduled to take place from November 30th to December 3rd, featuring many top players, who will compete for the $1.2 million (£630,000) prize.

Last year's star-studded contest up saw Jim Furyk pip Darren Clarke and Retief Goosen to win the trophy.

Sun City has more than just a golf course, holding a reputation as South Africa's answer to Las Vegas.

It has casinos and other attractions such as the Lost City, with its own jungle and the Valley of the Waves, plus a mock beach which hosts concerts and shows.

The resorts at Sun City have plenty of accommodation, including cheap hotels.

Visitors to the region also have plenty of other things to do and see with a day's drive. Including the Sterkfontein Caves, home to famous anthropological finds and lots of bats.

Additionally, there are the bustling cities of nearby Gauteng, where visitors can see all over Johannesburg from the Roof of Africa at the top of the 50-storey Carlton Tower, enjoy Pretoria's Jacaranda trees, or take a township tour to Soweto.
