Barca Vs Real - Who'll Have a Happy Xmas?
There are a few fixtures in European football that get sports fans' mouths watering, not only in the country in which the game is played but all over the world.
Manchester United vs Liverpool, Lazio vs Roma, Glasgow vs Celtic are a few of the games that are guaranteed to get the adrenaline pumping, but arguably the fiercest rivalry of all is that between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Anybody looking forward to a festive stay in a hotel in Barcelona at Christmas time had better prepare for a distinctly un-merry encounter if they are lucky enough to get tickets for the next chapter in this age-old contest on December 23rd.
This fixture, or El Clasico as it is better known, could not have been any tighter over the past three years, with two wins for both sides - Barcelona's were both 3-0 thumpings - and two draws, including a thrilling 3-3 deadlock at the Nou Camp last season.
So far this season there has been little to separate these two giants of Spanish football, with Real just getting their noses ahead by two points after six wins from seven games, compared to Barca's five.
This game will never need any added spice, but if the top of the table is still this tight shortly before Christmas, El Clasico 2007 will surely be added to the pantheon of legendary matches this fixture has thrown up in the past.
