Barcelona Celebrates Great Poet

Barcelona celebrates great poet People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona will this year have the opportunity to learn more about the city's cultural heritage at a special exhibition.

A showcase exploring the life and work of the Catalan poet Jose Agustin Goytisolo will be open at the Cercle de Lectors foundation on Carrer Consell de Cent until June 6th.

The exhibition, which was launched to mark the tenth anniversary of Goytisolo's death, features a number of display items including a series of photographs that offer a visual narrative of the poet's life.

Visitors will also be able to see illustrated and handwritten stories by the author, books with dedications to loved ones and a number of first editions of his poetry collections.

Goytisolo was born in Barcelona in 1928 and was arguably best known for his role in the Generation of 50, a cultural movement that called for political and social change through art and language.

Barcelona's Cercle de Lectors foundation is located in the Eixample district, an area of the city that nearly all tourists visit in order to see the iconic Sagrada Familia cathedral.
