Barcelona Exhibition Delves into Darker Side of Football

Barcelona exhibition delves into darker side of football An exhibition held in Barcelona over the coming months will consider all of the aspects that surround football in the modern day, including some of the ugly and unsavoury parts of the game.

Pasion en las Gradas, an exhibition being held at the Espai Cultural Caja de Madrid until April 20th, will use as its background the sometimes disturbing passions that can be aroused by a football match.

The free exhibition, which has already proven a success in Germany and Switzerland, will consist of more than 400 photographs plus other display items and videos.

People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona will be able to explore six sections of the exhibition: violence; racism and discrimination; the world of words; fascination; prevention; and the masses.

Some of the most shocking elements of the showcase will be found in the sections exploring violence and racism, including a replica of the pig's head that was thrown at Luis Figo after he moved from Barcelona to Real Madrid.

The exhibition will also explore the obsession that some fans have with their team, with displays including a coffin and an urn – in the shape of a football – designed in yellow and black, the colours of German club Borussia Dortmund.
