The quality of hotel options in Barcelona has been highlighted once again at an awards event in Newcastle.
Barcelona's Hotel Majestic was voted Spain's leading hotel and its Penthouse was named the country's leading suite at the 2007 World Travel Europe ceremony.
The award-winning building is located in the heart of the Catalan city on Passeig de Gracia, which is home to a range of shopping boutiques and is in walking distance of the famous Ramblas.
This street also boasts some of the most famous works by architect Antoni Gaudi, whose bold structural designs contribute to the character and style of the city of Barcelona.
Hotel Majestic is part of a group that also includes the Hotel Inglaterra and the Michelin-starred Drolma restaurant.
Among the other Spanish winners at the travel awards was the Hesperia Madrid, which was named the country's leading business hotel, and the Mare Nostrum complex in Tenerife, which was deemed to be Spain's top spa resort.
