Barcelona Looks at JG Ballard
Visitors staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona this year will have the opportunity to expand their cultural horizons with a close look at the work of JG Ballard.
Ballard is a British novelist and short story writer who has created some highly influential and compelling works, including the autobiographical Empire of the Sun and the controversial Crash.
Barcelona's CCCB is currently hosting a display that focuses on Ballard's ideas about the future and what it may hold for the human race.
The writer has expressed predictions of a future of empty swimming pools, abandoned hotels, catastrophes and strange perversions that are both disturbing and fascinating.
JG Ballard: Autopsy of the New Millennium, which will be open at the CCCB until November this year, includes installations, audiovisual displays, pieces by people who have studied the writer and much of his own work.
Visitors to the city will find the exhibition venue on Carrer Montalegre in the Ciutat Vella district.
