Barcelona Named Top City Break Destination
The quality of experience on offer to people who have booked hotels in Barcelona has been highlighted again this week at the World Travel Awards.
At a ceremony held in London on November 15th the Catalan capital was named the top international destination for a city break.
The popularity of Spain as a whole was emphasised by the fact that the Costa Blanca, the strip of coastline that lies south of Barcelona, took the award for the best location for a beach holiday.
Another success for the country came in the 'top information sources' category of the World Travel Awards, with the Tourism Office of Spain named the best European tourist board.
Other top travel destinations in 2007 were Australia, which was named the 'dream destination' of the year and Val d'Isere in France, which took the top European ski destination award.
Aspen, Colorado was named the top spot for skiing in North America, while Cornwall was recognised as the favourite holiday location in the UK.
