Barcelona Recognises Top Retailers
There are a number of reasons why so many people visit Barcelona every year, one of which is shopping, and the city council has recently recognised the city's bustling retail scene at an awards ceremony.
Last week the Sala Oval of the Palau Nacional of Montjuic held an event named 'Barcelona, the best shop in the world' to recognise the city's top commercial organisations and retailers.
The awards event was attended by Barcelona mayor Jordi Hereu and councillor for economic promotion Jordi William Carnes.
One of the city's most popular shops is Mango and the brand was recognised with a special award for promotion of entrepreneurial spirit.
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona should keep an eye out for Espai Bici, which received the award for best shop, while mention was also given to chocolate makers Enric Rovira.
Barcelona is home to the renowned shopping line, which stretches a whole five kilometres from the top of the Ramblas, through Placa de Catalunya along Passeig de Gracia and up Avinguda Diagonal.
