Barcelona Revels in the Summer
Barcelona's summer festival is one of the city's most important cultural events.
It is also one of the most impressive events to take place in the city and is popularly known as the Grec Festival.
Every year, from June 25th to August 5th, a variety of events running the gamut of the city's cultural heritage are put on display in celebration of summer in Barcelona.
Theatre, dance and music are all on display during this event, which is symbolised by the long-eared faun.
Much of the main action takes place in the impressive Teatre Grec, an old amphitheatre at the top of Mount Montjuic, overlooking the city.
Started in 1976 by a group of actors, this has grown into one of the best-loved festivals in Barcelona and many people from around the globe descend on the city to enjoy the festivities every year.
This year's highlights include performances by Teresa Parodi, Marina Rossell and Lila Downs.
