Barcelona Swimming Club Celebrates 100 Years
The Club Natacio Barcelona (CNB) will celebrate its centenary next month, an occasion that merited a recent visit from the city mayor.
During his visit to the swimming club, Jordi Hereu highlighted the rich history of the establishment and also looked to the future.
Mr Hereu said that the CNB had a "historic tradition" as well as future plans that, over coming years, "will allow it to double its capacity and offer other sports".
The mayor was accompanied by city councillor for sport Pere Alcober and after their tour of the club's facilities Mr Hereu and Mr Alcober attended a dinner at the CNB with representatives of other sports clubs from around the city.
First founded on November 10th 1907, the CNB now covers an area of 22,000 square metres and is the largest leisure sports complex on Barcelona's seafront.
It now has nearly 9,000 members, compared to just over a dozen when it first opened.
