Barcelona to Explore Mined Lives
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona over the coming months will be able to visit a poignant and affecting exhibition called Mined Lives.
This display of photography by Gervasio Sanchez will be held at the Centre of Contemporary Culture in Barcelona (CCCB) until April 13th this year.
When the Ottawa Treaty was signed in December 1997, banning the use, sale and production of anti-personnel mines, Sanchez embarked on an ambitious project to explore the issue.
His endeavours to document the effects that anti-personnel mines had on their victims took him half the way around the world.
The resulting collection of photographs includes images of people from some of the countries worst affected by the use of mines, including Angola, Mozambique, Afghanistan, Cambodia and Iraq.
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona can find the CCCB in the city's Ciutat Vella district.
