Barcelona to Host Superyachts for First Time

Barcelona to host superyachts for first time The city of Barcelona will play host to 'superyachts' for the first time at the Barcelona Boat Show next month.

Held from November 3rd to 11th in the Gran Via exhibition centre and Port Vell, the nautical event will feature 686 companies and 2,100 boats, which will include a number of superyachts for the first time.

Holidaymakers looking forward to a stay in a hotel in Barcelona next month will be able to explore over 115,000 square metres of exhibition space and see more boats than have ever been exhibited before at the show.

The number of exhibitors will exceed that of last year by 11 per cent, with 153 of the 686 companies coming from abroad and 533 based in Spain.

Visitors with an interest in all things nautical will have their tastes indulged at the event, with exhibits relating to shipbuilders, sail and motor boats, sports marinas, nautical schools, electronics and engines.

Port Vell is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Barcelona. Prior to the 1992 Olympic Games it was an obsolete harbour but a renewal programme transformed it into a yacht basin and entertainment centre that now opens the city up to the sea.
