Barcelona to Retain Science Pass Scheme
The Barcelona City Council has announced that the science pass scheme introduced this year will be kept in place permanently.
Barcelona celebrated Science Year this year and to mark the period the science pass was introduced, allowing holders to visit seven different museums and other centres with the same ticket throughout 2007.
It was hoped that the pass would encourage people to discover more about science and promote cooperation between different centres of learning.
The scheme proved such a success that it is to be made permanent, meaning that people staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona next year can hold on to their ticket and use it numerous times, even on separate holidays throughout the year.
For a cost of 18.50 (£12.80), pass holders will be granted access to the Barcelona Natural Science Museum, the Botanic Gardens, the Maritime Museum, the Barcelona Zoo and the Catalan Museum of Science and Technology.
The ticket also provides access to the CosmoCaixa, the city's modern science museum, and the Agbar building, a water museum based at the Aigues de Barcelona water pumping station.
