Brits 'craving Spring Sunshine'

Cheap hotels in Valencia and other sunny destinations could prove popular among Brits in search of warm weather this spring.

According to a customer survey carried out by travel add-ons company Holiday Extras, 48 per cent of people are prioritising good weather as they search for a destination for their spring getaway.

The weak pound does not appear to be discouraging overseas travel, with nearly one in three (31 per cent) people saying they would head to a foreign country.

Almost a fifth (18 per cent) would take a holiday in Europe despite the weakness of the pound against the euro and 13 per cent would consider the option of travelling long haul.

However, 21 per cent of respondents said they would rather go for the more affordable option of staying in the UK this spring.

Mike Whiting of Holiday Extras said: "I'm not surprised that so many people want guaranteed sunshine this spring and while some people will certainly be choosing to holiday closer to home, tourism abroad is still high on the agenda for most."

Wherever they decide to visit, many British people will enjoy the company of family over the coming months, with a recent Holiday Extras survey finding that 54 per cent of Brits would be happy to go away with their mums.
