Bull Run Fun in Spain

Bull run fun in Spain Holidaymakers looking for something a bit different to sitting on a beach might be heading to Spain next week.

The Pamplona Bull Run, or Encierro, part of the spectacular Fiesta de San Fermin is taking place between the 6th and 14th of June.

Considered a right of manhood by locals, the event sees hundreds of brave runners hurtling down the 800-metre stretch of city streets.

Visitors might not want to come to the painful end of mid-life crisis afflicted American Billy Crystal in the hit movie City Slickers, who found a bull's horns a touch too close for comfort.

There are three separate parts to the run, varying in difficulty, Santo Domingo, Mercaderes and Estafeta.

However most travellers won't be able to attend the Encierillo, which takes place at 23:00 local time, as it is exclusively by invitation from the town hall only.

Anyone brave enough to take on the famous run can do so, although they must be warned that many injuries have been recorded, culminating a coating of anti-slip paint for the streets in 2005.
