Catalonian Festival Comes to Barcelona
Visitors to Spain should not miss out on going to the Fiesta of La Merce in Barcelona this year.
At the end of September, the city comes alive and attracts thousands of visitors to enjoy the celebration of Catalan culture and traditions.
There are various events organised, such as fire-breathing dragons, live music, costumes and dance groups in honour of the Virgin of Mercy, the city's patron saint.
One of the highlights of the fiesta is the Carrefoc – a midnight parade of eagles, dragons and devils, which takes place at the same time as a large fireworks display.
There will also be a human tower building competition in which teams compete to build the tallest tower.
Barcelona will also play host to a number of street theatre, circus and dance acts, as well as live bands which will perform in the streets and squares throughout the city.
