Cultural Events Strengthen Barcelona-Portugal Ties

Cultural events strengthen Barcelona-Portugal ties A number of cultural events have been hosted in Barcelona to strengthen the city's ties with Portugal.

There is a large Portuguese community in Barcelona and relations between the Catalan capital and Spain's neighbouring Iberian country are becoming increasingly close, according to the city council.

People staying in hotels in Barcelona can enjoy a number of cultural celebrations of the ties between the city and Portugal, including the exhibition 'Candida Hofer in Portugal' at CaixaForum.

This showcase is part of a commission given to a German photographer by Lisbon's cultural foundation and includes photographs of public places in Portugal, such as theatres, auditoriums and palaces.

Another Portuguese artist on a visit to Barcelona is Jose Luis Peixoto, the writer and previous winner of the Jose Saramago literary award for his novel Nenhum Olhar.

Mr Peixoto will speak about modern Portuguese literature at the University of Barcelona on November 14th.
