During this time the Museo Thyssen will feature an exhibition of the Dutch master's work, with a special emphasis on the last three months of the painters life, which he spent at Auvers in France during 1890.
It was during this time that Van Gogh suffered badly with the mental illness which had seen him cut off his ear and ultimately led to his suicide.
However, this period also saw some prolific output, including the painting Les Vessenots, which is on display at the museum.
