Explore Catalan Art in Barcelona
People staying in cheap hotels in Barcelona over the coming months should make sure they visit the Catalan National Art Museum if they have an interest in the region's cultural history.
An exhibition entitled Guests of Honour will be on display at the museum until April 11th.
The show was assembled to mark the institute's 75th anniversary.
It features about 70 pieces of art that represent the history of art in Catalonia, covering periods from the Middle Ages to the turn of the 20th century.
Several influential and acclaimed artists are represented in the exhibition, including Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali and Antoni Gaudi.
Visitors will also be able to learn about Baroque, Romanesque and Renaissance art and see examples of various creative techniques, from painting and sculpture to silverwork and photography.
Highlights include La Masovera by Joan Miro and Aristides Maillol's Mediterrania, which have been borrowed from the Centre Georges Pompidou and the Musee d'Orsay respectively.
